Catholic Services Appeal

The 2016/2017 Catholic Services Appeal at SJ has been paid off with proceeds from the Golf Event. The 2017/2018 CSA Kickoff is September 23rd and 24th for both parishes. This is an opportunity for us, as a faith family, to join together to do the work of the Lord. This year our assessment @ SJ is $31,490.  OLL has an assessment of $29,658. Please prayerfully consider donating to this appeal.

Like” our Facebook Page

Baptism Classes

We welcome infants into our parish community through the sacrament of  Baptism, an expression of the parents’ commitment to the Faith and a sign of God’s love and care for the child.  Welcomed by Name is a program of  welcome, connection and conversion and consists of one class for about an hour.  It is preferable to attend prior to the birth of your child. If you are expecting a baby please register. The next class for our cluster will be Thursday, September 14th at St. Joseph.  Registration is required. Contact Melissa at SJ 715-268-7717 or Sally at OLL 715-405-2253 to register.

Flowers for Mary

We are looking for volunteers to bring a vase of flowers from your garden or a purchased arrangement. The flowers are placed by the statue of Mary. Please use the calendar by the office door to sign up for a weekend.

Catechists Needed: What & Who is a Catechist?

“The role of a Catholic catechist is to catechize (teach) the faith of the Catholic Church by both word and example”—Wikipedia. Catechesis is about bringing people to Christ! It is helping people encounter the true and living God who is calling each of us into his heavenly life, and to bring others along. We are ALL called to bring others to Christ! We are currently looking for Catechists for the upcoming 2017-18 Faith Formation year.  The grades we are looking for class assistants for at St. Joseph are Kindergarten, 2nd, and a couple assistants and/or substitutes for 6-11th grade. Contact your parish office if you are interested or if you have any questions.

Theology of the Body Confirmation Retreat

Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Grantsburg is hosting a Confirmation Retreat on Sunday, October 1st.  All Confirmation Students need to complete a retreat as  one of the requirements, this would be a great opportunity. The retreat goes from 8:30 am to 4 pm. Lunch and snacks will be provided.  Guest Speaker is Jen Messing (Founder of Into The Deep). You can contact Marge Schone at SJ or Sally Christensen at OLL if you would like more information on how to register.

Backpack Fundraiser

The Salvation Army sends backpacks home to students in need. They are collecting personal hygiene products to be added to the backpacks. The thought behind the drive is that children are being targeted for bullying in schools because of personal hygiene issues. Each month there will be one specific item to collect. For the month of September we will be collecting Shampoo and Conditioner to put they products in during the year.  We will have a basket for the collection by the bulletin board in the gathering area.

Mass Videographer

Our Mass is broadcasted each week on local access cable channel 6 compliments of Northwest Communication. We have dedicated couples and individuals who videotape the Mass each week. We need more help. Please prayerfully consider becoming a Mass Videographer and call the parish office to volunteer.

Rummage Sale

We are in need of a new Chairperson for our annual Rummage Sale in May. Marita is willing to help out whoever takes it over. Please let the office know if you are interested.

Joining the Catholic Church

Were you raised in another church, but worship with us often, and wonder about some of our practices and beliefs? Or has the Holy Spirit been prompting you, a baptized Catholic, to complete your initiation into the Church by receiving the sacraments of Eucharist and Confirmation? Then the Rite of Christian Initiation of Adults (RCIA) may be just what you’re seeking!  Classes will begin in the Fall and we will be having a RCIA Meeting at St. Joseph Church after the 10:30 am Mass on Sunday September 17th. Contact SJ or OLL offices for more information.
